Cake with candles

Cake with candles — the online birthday card where they blow out five candles and cut the cake

Giftable's cake with candles is an online birthday card they actually blow out: five flickering candles go out one tap at a time, the room lights up to a Happy Birthday tune, and the cut cake hides your wishes. Free to send as is; extras from €1.

What it fits

Questions and answers

Do they have to blow into the microphone?

No. Tapping a flame blows that candle out, and that is how most people open it. The small microphone button is optional: the browser asks for permission only when it is tapped, the candles go out one by one as they blow, and the microphone switches off as soon as the last one is out. Nothing is recorded or sent anywhere, and the card never asks for the microphone when it plays itself for someone watching.

Will it play music out loud?

Only after they have touched the page. When the last candle goes out, a soft Happy Birthday melody of about twelve seconds plays, made right in the browser. The speaker button in the corner mutes it, and the page remembers that choice next time. If the card opens itself through auto-open and nobody has tapped yet, it stays silent.

What do I have to write, and what does it cost?

Just two names. Each occasion — birthday, first birthday, anniversary, retirement, quinceañera or just because — comes with its own greeting and four short wishes, so you can send it as is or rewrite any of it. The cake takes no photos and has no date or address fields. Building and previewing are free; sending it as is is free too, and extras such as a file start from €1. Their reply comes back to you as an answer to your Giftable.
