Open when…
Open When Letters — a linen folder of letters your person opens one at a time
Giftable’s Open When Letters is a linen folder of five to seven letters sent as a browser link: your person unties the cord, picks the pocket marked “open when you miss me”, reads a letter already written, and writes back. From €1 to send.

What the recipient sees
- 01Pulls the coral cord off a linen folder with their name on the label.
- 02Picks a paper pocket — “open when you miss me” — and the letter rises out crumpled, then smooths flat.
- 03Slips it back into its pocket, then writes you a word or a few lines in return.
What to prepare
- The name on the folder — who the letters are addressed to
- Your name: every letter is signed with it
- Which set fits: distance, missing you, illness, a hard week, a goodbye, a loss
- Your own first letter, if you want one: the other four to six arrive already written
- No photos: the linen, paper pockets, cord and pressed flowers are drawn
What it fits
- “Open when you miss me” — the long stretch before the same city again
- “Open when there is no one to tell” — a friend who moved away
- “Open when you are ill” — someone recovering through dull afternoons
- “Open when it gets unbearable” — a hard week for someone who never asks
- “Open when you board the train” — the goodbye before they leave
- Open when letters for a friend moving away, handed over as one link
- A get well message for someone you do not know well
- A goodbye card for a friend moving away, with letters they open later
Questions and answers
How many letters are there, and can I set a date so one unlocks later?
A folder holds five to seven letters: your own first one and four to six already written for the occasion. And no, nothing unlocks on a schedule. Every pocket is on the page from the start, labelled with its moment — “open when you can’t sleep”, “open when you are angry with me”, “open when everyone is annoying” — and the person decides which one they need tonight. There is no timer, no PIN and no release schedule; the only rule is the one printed on the page: one at a time, no peeking.
Do I need photos, and does the recipient need an app?
Neither. This template has no photo slot at all — the linen, the paper pockets, the cord and the pressed flowers are drawn, so nothing is uploaded and nothing waits on a file. Your person opens the link in the browser they already use: no app, no account, no sign-up before they can read the first letter.
How do they answer me, and what does sending cost?
After the letters comes a “what will you write back” step: three short replies such as “hugging you back” or “calling you today”, and you can swap that for your own single-choice, multiple-choice or short-text question before sending. Answers are saved to your Giftable, so unlike a paper set you actually hear back; the page also offers WhatsApp, Telegram or copy so they can send the same words straight to you. Building and previewing is free; sending costs from €1.
